They will tell their friends about me and create links that will help me to get better rankings in Google.

Again, if you don’t have the expertise blogging isn’t the best option for you. There are plenty of other options and there is probably one that will fit your personality and expertise.

You can also really supplement the income of a blog by marketing affiliate products. With our blog we have always shared paid products that we use with the people that read the blogs. The owners of these products pay us commissions in exchange for providing them with sales. Usually these commissions are offered on a percentage basis and the payouts come monthly. Some of the products are recurring which means that the people pay monthly and when that happens we usually get paid monthly. Products like that are great because they allow you to build up residuals, as long as they are good products that people will continue to use.
